Spartan's Training Event Recap!

On May 16, 2012, the Spartans had a great training mission! Below is a report on this mission from Spartan's CO Zara Xorbun"

First we had a briefing in the briefing-room at Spartan HQ, then There was practice of sky dive from a C-47 over Kuming AFB.

The mission was to capture the top secret war plans s from the Germans, located in the big bunker at Battelfield. hidden in a box.

A Delta team was drooped over the Bunker, and after some battle they got the box whit the top secret war plans.
Extraction plan was to BASE jump and glide to the beach, to avoid mines and barbwire.
The France resistance, had placed small rubber boats to sail back in over the Pacific".

Yesterday was the start of our Memorial Day Weekend Festival on our WW2 Tribute Sim! This great event is also a FEATURED Destinations Event! DJ Aankin opened the event with a 2 hour rock event, guests danced and shopped while also checking out our sim! Amelias' Pilot Lounge Goes to the Dark Side!

On Wednesday, May 23, 2012, Amelias' Pilot Lounge DJ and recent Flying Tigers' Academy FT201 graduate, Anakin, celebrated his second rezz day in Second Life! In honor of this event, Amelias' Pilot Lounge had a complete dark make over, with skull walls and a skull cake! Earlier in the week Amelias was a disco and even a ball room! Home and Garden Expo Events Recap!

This year the Flying Tigers and Nexgen Aviation are at the Relay for Life's Home and Garden Expo! This event is held yearly and raises money for SL Relay for Life.  The Flying Tigers have been participating and of course having fun at this great event!

Last Sunday, DJ Anakin and yours truly hosted a 2 hour DJ event, at the Home and Garden Expo Stage! DJ Anakin kept the crowd dancing to a rock and 1980's set! You can check out photos of this event below:

Yesterday Flying Tigers CO, Major General Giano and yours truly were guests on the live Prim Perfect show at the Home and Garden Expo. MG Giano spoke about aviation and flying in Second Life, while I touched on event planning. Special thanks to all Flying Tigers that were guests in the audience! Below are photos of this event:

Disco Fever at Amelias' Pilot Lounge!

Yesterday, DJ Cath paid tribute to two disco legends: Robin Gibbs of the BeeGees and Donna Summer. In honor of the tribute, Amelias' Pilot Lounge went disco for the 2 hour disco set. VIP's were also given roller skates to skate to! May 2012 Flying Tigers' Academy Graduation Recap!

On Saturday, May 19, 2012, the Flying Tigers held their May 19, 2012 graduation! A combined total of 16 FT201 and FT401 cadets graduated!

Events started with a flyover by the Golden Tigers! Captain Umaga started events with a great welcome speech, which set the tone of graduation. After the welcome speech, Colonel Mumfuzz announced the FT201 graduates, who were later sworn in by Major General Giano and commissioned at 2nd LT's:

After the graduation ceremony, everyone partied at Amelias' Pilot Lounge, which had been decorated to look like a vintage ballroom.  New 2nd LT and Amelias' DJ, Anakin, played 2 hours of 1930s and 1940s tunes, to keep everyone in the mood:

Flying Tiger's May Academy Graduation Information

On Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 12pm slt, the Flying Tigers' Academy will hold its May 2012 graduation ceremony! The ceremony will be held at our WW2 Memorial, which is located on the WW2 Pacific Sim.   Below is a schedule of events:

74th Squadron Party Recap!

Today the 74th Squadron hosted a party at Amelia's Pilot Lounge! Guests danced to the classic rock tunes of DJ Cath! Every 30 minutes, guests had a chance to win a BlakOpal gift card and there was a loaded contest board also! Below are photos from today's great event:

Flying Tigers' Academy Orientation!

On Saturday, the first pilots who are enrolled in our new online Academy format, participated in the new orientation sessions for the Academy! Flying Tigers Raise over 8,000L's at the SL RFL May Day Event!

On Saturday night, the fundraising spirit of the Flying Tigers continued, with DJ Anakin and yours truly donning medieval gear and raising money for the Flying Tigers' SL Relay for Life May Day event! For the 2 hour event we raised over 8,000L's and pushed our team's total to over 334,000 Lindens or over $1300 in USD! Below are photos of our great fundraising night (courtesy of Maddy Maskelyne):

Over 5,000L's Raised for ALS(Lou Gehrigs' Disease)!

Last Friday, the Flying Tigers had their first of two fundraisers this past weekend for ALS (Lou Geherigs' Disease). Friday's fundraiser included DJ Anakin and Host Tamil! The fundraiser was held at Amelia's Pilot Lounge.  Below are photos from this event:

VE Day Celebrations is a FEATURED Second LIfe Destinations Event!

We are pleased to announce that our VE Day Celebrations is a FEATURED Second Life Destinations event! This event is a joint effort between the London Sims, Karl Reisman (THI), Nexgen Aviation, and the Flying Tigers! Dates: May 4-May 8, 2012

Description: This 4 day event will remember VE Day, a major WW2 historical event in the London Sims.  The SL Flying Tigers, Nexgen Avation, and Karl Reisman (THI Industries) will recreate the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight over the London Sims.  This event will be live streamed on the SL Flying Tiger's live stream channel: http://www.livestream.com/slflyingtigers

May 5, 2012 to May 8, 2012- THI and Nexgen Aviation WW2 Planes Display. Remembrance Book set up at the Tower Hill Memorial.

May 8, 2012:
-12pm to 2pm slt Hyde Park Event - DJ Anakin.  At 12:30pm slt, Anakin will call for a moment of silence to remember the heros of WW2 and for VE Day.  The park sim will go to dark for windlights.  After the on minute of silence.  The Last Post Bugle Call will be played, followed by a 21 gun salute on air.  Lastly God Save the Queen will be played, then events will resume.

-2pm slt -The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will fly over Mayfair, Knightsbridge, and Hyde Park Sims.

-6pm to 8pm slt - DJ Heath. At 6:30pm slt, Heath will call for a moment of silence to remember the heros of WW2 and for VE Day.  The park sim will go to dark for windlights.  After the on minute of silence.  The Last Post Bugle Call will be played, followed by a 21 gun salute on air.  Lastly God Save the Queen will be played, then events will resume.

Flying Tigers' Charity Weekend!

This weekend we are participating in three charity related events! First there will be two fundraisers for ALS, which raises money to fight Lou Gehrig's Disease.  The first fundraiser will be held today, at 12pm slt at Amelia's Pilot Lounge. The second one will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 10 am slt and take place at WW2 Memorial Park. Sunday's fundraiser will also feature a special Nickleback Tribute Band Concert!

On Saturday, the Flying Tigers' Relay for Life Team, will hold a fundraiser at the Relay for Life May Day team event! Amelia's Pilot Lounge DJ Anakin and yours truly will be hosting a 2 hour fundraiser, which begins at 6pm slt! The theme is medieval, so make sure you come dressed in your favorite medieval attier! Also check out the Flying Tigers' Medieval May Day booth at the May Day event:

Sunday is also a Fun Day for the Second Life Cheerleading Squad, who will hold Fun Days to raise money for their Relay for Life Team! Nexgen Aviation has set up a small booth at the Second Life Cheerleading Squad's Fun Day area, in their great stadium!

New Flying Tigers' Academy Format!

We are pleased to announce the new Flying Tigers' Pilot Academy format! With this format, FT101 and FT201 will be taken online and FT301 and FT401 will be taken in person and in Second Life! With the two courses being online, future pilots no longer have to wait to take the first two courses and can access the courses anywhere they have access to a computer or internet! You can view our new academy page by clicking academy on this site or by clicking the screenshot below:

We have also automated the enlistment process! You can fill out our handy online enlistment form to begin your career as a pilot with the SL Flying Tigers!
